~Bueno Bye~

Okay! Here's the deal: I've been hemming and hawing about how to say this, when to do it, should I do it, why I was doing it, and what exactly it was that I was doing. Where was taken care of, at least that much I do know.

Tomorrow marks the two year anniversary of my journal, but today will mark the closing of it. Yes, that's right. I will no longer be posting entries to this journal. I'm not leaving the blog-o-sphere. I'm just moving to different digs. I'm going to keep my AOL subscription and this journal up until I have a chance to transfer over all of my archives. It's just too difficult maintaining two locations and it has reached a point that Blogger's benefits far out weigh those of AOL, for me anyhow. I'll let the powers that be know this much, that the breaking point was them offering email free to anyone who wants it.

You see, I don't need AOL. I pay extra to have access to their service just so I can keep my journal up and be a part of this community. And, it seems senseless to continue paying for something that they are giving away. Yes, you can now get a journal AND free email from AOL. The only hindrance is that you can't roll your journal over into an AIM account which I think they should have offered from the get-go when they decided to give the farm away on the backs of their loyal subscribers.

I think leaving the journaling community here will be bitter sweet because I realize some people will not follow me and stay in contact with me at my new location, nor will I get to participate in the fun community things that go on like the Vivi Awards, the floats, the graveyards, and so much more. But, I believe we create our own communities and I have a knack for doing that where ever I go.

I'll still be around to comment and cheer everyone on in their journaling journey. However, since I am leaving, I don't think it would be fair to possibly grab an award then up and leave. There are fellow nominees who deserve it so much more than I do and hope you'll give them a read and agree.

Take Care! From now on, you can find me here: Robbie's Rumminations

P.S. I don't think you will need to be registered in order to comment at my new place, but you will need to enter a code that is provided when requested to do so. Sorry, but it protects my virgin eyes from the spammers. If you do have to register, please let me know. My email here will be good for a while. I have over a year's worth of entries to transfer and, well, a couple hundred journals to check out before voting closes on the Vivi.

Whoa.  Wow.  Hey, congratulations on your two-year journaling career.  You KNOW I'll be over at your other place.  Still, this is a difficult goodbye.  Your journal has been a place of comfort and joy.  But hey, it's like moving.  We just have to go to your new address.  And we won't have to do any more driving than we already do!  Bonus!

Oh and, congrats on your nomination.  Now I suppose I have to change my vote.  Will you put a 'nominee' graphic at your other place?  I guess I could just go on over there right now and see for myself.  ;)

We'll miss you here.

Wow, leaving? Well, I understand, I myself have started a journal outside the AOL arena, mainly for my writing <books and publishing works> but have to admit, it's nice pages then what AOL gives up. I will mark your new digs in my bloglines <bless those bloglines, I now abhor AOL alert emails> Take care and Thank You for the shout out.

I won't miss you, because of course I'll be following you to wherever you go.  AOL doesn't constitute the entire blogosphere..and if it's better for you to go elsewhere, go with our blessings.  I'm headed out now to the new digs so I can get the "bloglines" feed on it...  Lisa  :-]

I understand the motivation and the reluctance. Sadly, the audience drops -- by better than two-thirds in my case -- but you get to know who your loyal readers are. I've already got you plugged into Bloglines.

And I agree with your assessment regarding the inability to roll an AOL journal into one on AIM. It's a royal pain to have spent so much per month so others can use the service for free yet be denied access to what we have created over the years...

Gosh Robbie.  Tara was just kiddin'.  I think.

We'll miss you here in the neighborhood, but I've already marked your new address, so I can stop in and catch up with the life and times of Robbie!

And congratulations on your two year anniversary!!

Oh shite, Robbie.  Will you stay if I say I'll miss you???  <grin>
I hate to see you leave, but I understand.  Doug and I have talked
about giving up AOL too, as it's an added expense we really
can't afford right now...but I just can't.  I love it too much.

I'll follow you where ever you go, girl!!

Oh man, you too Robbie?!?  Everyone seems to be leaving AOL and with good reason actually.  AOL has no clue what "customer service" really means.  You would think they would since they HAVE to be losing money left and right.  But, I will stay, I am like that, don't want to deal with change.  I am sorry I won't be able to visit you anymore, I am terrible at going to the new "blog" sites that are popping up everywhere.  Good luck to you sweety!!!!  You will be missed.

I'll trudge on over to read at your new digs.  So sorry I've missed so much.  You deserve an award for your writing.  Blessings, Penny

ooh nooooooooooooooooo....!   Say it isn't so...!  ;(  Geez...I go away for a couple of weeks and come back to find one of my best pals is moving, oh so far, where the hell is it again?  ;)

But I don't blame you a bit.  Do you mean to tell me AOL is GIVING away what we have to pay for?  I did not know this.  I feel like a sap.  I may join you in your new digs ~ any lofts for rent there?  I'm coming around with a housewarming plant in just one click...

Happy (bittersweet) Anniversary!   :)

I am so sad to hear you are closing this journal down.
I will try to give over to your new place.
I did vote for you!

Was just coming over to thank you for visiting my journal only to find you are leaving! Shit, this really sucks!
I'm always behind the eightball when it comes to discovering great things!
Looks like we'll still be able to track you down though, so best of luck to you:)
I have been disenchanted here, as well. The alert sytem sucks bigtime.

Robbie: So of course this is when I pop in to say hi, great timing!  (sorry it's been so long)  I perfectly understand your decision to more to another service.  I enjoy the non-AOL blogs that I read, so I'll just add yours to the list.  hugs to you, Albert

Like many others, I'll miss you. There is no doubt about it. In fact I've wished you would write more for some time. Yet, I also know that change is the only constant in life. So I'll be following you. Just because its the least I can do.
