A bizarre way to start the day

Trish, Gigi, and I went to Laguna Beach yesterday. I love it down there. Even though the weather wasn't completely in our favor, it was a great day. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery, the food, a little bar hopping and even squeezed in a gallery. We went for the artwork but stayed for the drinks!

This is what happens when I'm woken up at 4 a.m. on a Sunday morning after only three hours of sleep. I make silly slideshows.

I actually got home at about 11:30 last night but by the time I wound down and fell asleep it was 1 a.m. Around four this morning, I heard a noise that sounded like someone scraping plastic on cement. In my half asleep state, I thought someone was taking their garbage out, not realizing that it was so early, or a Sunday morning. Shortly thereafter I was jarred fully awake by the sound of approaching sirens. I jumped out of bed when I realized the sound had stopped outside my apartment window. I have several elderly people who live in my building, so my initial thought before pulling aside the curtains was that one of them was ill. However, I was quite shocked when I pulled back the curtains and saw a vehicle flipped over on its roof directly in front of my building. I'm not quite sure what happened. I couldn't bring myself to look long enough to decipher the situation. The firemen were just approaching the vehicle and I was concerned that next I would see them pulling a body from the wreckage. It's such a bizarre thing because the roads weren't wet and the immediate area is flat with no turns or anything that should cause that kind of accident. I was left to wonder how it happened and what was going on outside. In order to occupy myself, I read a few journals and put this little slideshow together.

The accident has been cleared now. So, I think I'll try to get some more sleep. Heck, maybe I'll wake later and find that it was all but a dream.

Laguna Beach is just a little bit "too precious" for my lower-class taste.  I pefer the working-class bustle of Manhattan Beach.
You know what BOTH beaches need? A NATHAN'S HOTDOG stand.  Talk about East Coast retro!

Thanx for "sliding" that in over to us! rich

I know that sound well.  I used to live on a windy, old country road here in this same town and there had to be an accident every month or so on that road.  It got to the point that when I would call "911" they would refer to me by name and say "do we need an ambulance Lisa?".  What is amazing is that when a car flips, it doesn't make a ton of noise like in the movies, just that sliding, plastic sound and then total silence afterwards.  Really weird.  Love your slideshow!  I would be standing on the other side of that sign too!  LOL!
Hugs and love, Lisa

Had this happen recently on our street. Still can't figure how she got that much speed up on such a short street. She was taking her cat to the vet and reached over to it and lost control. No one hurt. Hope no one was there either. Paula

Thankyou for the lovely tribute!  I'm sending it to my mother.  She'll be so proud. ("At last  ~ she's in pictures...why does she have to be breaking the rules...?") ;D

I had such a blast with you guys yesterday!  And the art wasn't bad, either.

(Sorry you were awakened ~ hope no one got hurt in the accident.)  Get some sleep!

That definitely sounds like a surreal start to your day...did you ever find out what happened?

Ummmmmumumummum....you're gonna be in troooouble...make that a doooouble.  Geesh, next you three will be paintballing mailboxes and filming your criminal antics.  It's a slippery slope, girls... a slippery slope!  Today, crossing barricades...tomorrow ripping off matress tags and then what?  drugs!  Rebellious behavior is a gateway to smack!  ;D

Ha!  Great slideshow.  Yes, her mama will be so proud.  I had a great time with you two yesterday.  Thanks for including me. :)

Freaky about the car accident.  Did you find out what happened?  Hope you got to catch up on some rest.

Okay...now you have to tell me how to put a slideshow in a journal...  Lisa  :-]

Ohhh, Robbie. Only YOU would have the oomph and energy to do a Journal entry (complete with a side show) after being woken up at four fricking a.m., LOL.

I'm glad you girls had a day out together. A day with the girls can be SO energizing, healing, re-charging and JUST the thing.

So ... was it dream after all? Hmmmm?

Yes, you're right...that does sound like a rather bizarre incident.  I know myself though...I'd be running out trying to help.  I'm still a nurse at heart, even though I'm not working right now.  =)

By the way, I think your little slideshow is cute!  <grin>

Love,
Bridgett

I knew that Gigi Martini person was trouble. Next thing you know, you'll be wheel woman in the convertible while she bashes mailboxes with a Louisville Slugger.

I love Laguna Beach....the art galleries, fun little shops, BJ's pizza.  I always drool in front of the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory window.  Have you ever been to the Sawdust Festival down there?  If not, you would love it.  It usually runs the month of July and early part of August.  The Pageant of the Masters in Laguna is also fabulous, I think it runs during some of the summer too.  Anyway, glad you had a fun day!  -Kari
