Fighting the Pain

I am really uncomfortable right now. As such, please bare with me if this doesn't make a lot of sense. Tonight is the first night I haven't spent more than a short spurt of time online since my back started hurting.  I've sat here for about two hours paying bills, upgrading software and trying to do a little something for my journal. I haven't even sat here the entire time but it doesn't matter. It's my lower back that is bothering me. It's this uncomfortable deep ache that radiates to my hips. I thought maybe part of the problem was the weather because when this started it was rainy and cold here and since the weather has warmed up I have been feeling better. But, I've also been staying busy and haven't been sitting here at my computer.  So, I think it's the activity that has been helping me and the Alleve that I've been popping. Thanks Mom! I took your suggestion and it has helped. Just not very well tonight. Erggg!!!

This time off the computer has really been a productive time for me. I really wanted to write about some decisions and changes that I intend on making but I just can't sit here any longer. Maybe tomorrow. Oh, and I know I should probably go to the doctor. I just don't have time right now. If my back's not better by the time I get back from my vacation, I'll make an appointment then.

Take care of yourself.  Call that doctor tomorrow.  It may take awhile to schedule an appointment.

I sure hope you feel better. Just baby it and it will probably go away on it's own but you're right to go to the doctor if it takes too long. He'll just give you pain killers but what else can you do! Don't carry a heavy purse either. I'm so bossy. LOL!

Thinking of you,

Angela

My husband used to suffer from chronic back trouble.  Most times, there's nothing a doctor can do.  He was off work for weeks, one time, and went to specialists.  You know what finally helped him?  (This was years ago.)  I checked a book out at the library called "The Back Book" which gave helpful suggestions.  And, he started walking three miles a day.  When he started walking, he was all bent to one side from the pain, but it wasn't long until he was back to normal.  Of course, if a person had a herniated disc, this wouldn't help.

Back problems can linger and are easy to re aggrivate.  If it hangs on, talk to your doctor about physical therapy.  I have a good friend who was having no luck until she started with appropriate theraputic movement....and it has helped a great deal.

Sorry about the pain Robbie, these things take a lot of time to get over sometimes. Take your time, be productive and we will all be here when you are feeling better.

Backs are almost the worst thing (ribs are the worst, you can put off moving, you have to breath) to have hurt-especially the lower back. You can't splint it, you have to use it. You have my heart (back) felt sympathy. Personally, if I could go back about 39 years and avoid those stairs I slipped on I would.

Oh, hon... so sorry to hear your back is still giving you trouble.  Maybe it's time to talk to your doctor about it?  They might be able to prescribe something - either medicine, physical therapy, a chiropractor - I went to one once and found it really helped! - or something along the lines of a pain clinic?  Just know I'm thinking about you.  Look in your mail this week for something from me.  Feel better soon.  ::hugs::
