Breaking the Ice

I don't know if anyone else has this problem but it's hard for me to write after I haven't for a while. I wanted to make an entry yesterday but just didn't feel motivated to. I still don't. There's lots of stuff I could write about. I keep a running list in my head of stuff but it just won't come out. So, I figure I just need to put something down so I can break the ice and get back on track.

I haven't been online much lately because of my back being out of whack. It feels better if I don't sit in one place for too long. So, I've been tinkering around my apartment trying to get some stuff done that I've been neglecting. My life has also been over-the-top busy lately in other areas. It will only get more intense for the next week or so as I prepare to go on vacation. I've also spent a lot of time with Freee the last couple of days. She's doing incredibly well and has posted an update on her journal with pictures. She's a real trooper. I don't think I would be quite so amicable after having surgery.

When I came home Friday night, after visiting Freee, I had a message that I was being featured on MusicTalk. That was a nice surprise that I wasn't expecting. They are highlighting my entry "The Sound of Music," where I talked about music being the keeper of my memories. And, no, that would not be a picture of me there. It's Alicia Keyes. She's a gorgeous woman and so fricken talented. I can't say that I mind.

When I logged on to AOL yesterday morning to check my email, there was a video streaming on the Welcome Page. So I clicked on it to see what it's about. I found a cool little feature for those on Broadband. It's called MovieLink. You can download movies to your computer to watch. Some of them are even free for AOL members. So, I thought I'd test it out by downloading one of the free ones. It took a while to download, maybe an hour or so. But, you can watch it as it is downloading. I didn't though. I let it download while I went and did other stuff. Then watched some of it last night. It's pretty cool. I think I might download a movie or two for when I fly to Texas next week, instead of having to worry about carting DVDs with me. Now that I have the video glitch worked out on my computer, there's all kinds of new stuff that I'm finding that I can do with my computer. I'll share some more as I happen upon them.

I go through phases too when I want to write and when I don't, as time goes on I want to write less.   that's natural.
I'm sorry your back is hurting you so much, my husband struggles with back problems as well.
and also,  what a great friend you are to Freee!   :D  I know she appreiciates sooo much. :)

Well, I'll use any ole excuse to talk about how difficult writing (something good, something coherent) is for me. Writing words is actually pretty easy. Making sure they make sense is another thing entirely.

I blame the freckle on my nose. The weather. My cat. Whatever's handy.

That said, I don't blame you for not feeling motivated to sit at a computer if your back is hurt. And lord knows how busy you must be lately, what with your trips to see Freee Girl. You're such a good friend, Robbie!

Congratz on the music feature. The hillzzzzzz are aliiiive with the sound of muuuuuuusick!

When I was younger it seemed my whole life had an accompanying soundtrack.  When I hear ceratin songs I remember where I was, who I was with, what we were doing.......sigh.   Michael, Navlanch, is the big feature on Music talk, his journal is something so personal it hurts to read it at times, fasinating.  He is a doll.

i was wondering about that MovieLink thing.. if takes up tons of memory to download a movie.  I was also looking around at the broad band gear and saw a nice new toy, where you can play your music and video and even have your pics on your TV screen. But its almost $200 for the whole system.. I can wait a year or so when it comes down in price. lol

Sorry you're still in pain. :(
We all get writer's block. When I do, I just don't write. Plus, if you're in pain, who can think straight.
Congratulations on being featured. That's always very nice.
God bless and take care of you,
Angela

I often wander around, reading other people's journals just to get some inspiration. Sometimes it works... sometimes I spend the day leaving comments instead of writing in my own heh :)

Yup.  It's hard for me too.  I've totally been "out of it" lately and only writing what I would consider "crap" entries.  I read back over them sometimes and ask myself, "Why did I bother posting that?"  I even write entries to myself as email, but never post them.  There's just nothing of real "value" to talk about at the moment.  Ah well... surely it'll come back for all of us.  Congrats on your feature!!  :D

I was featured on Music Talk back in June. On the page with me were Michael Jackson and Courtney Love. I'll take Alicia anyday. Sorry about your back.
