Mandate My Ass

I am stuck in my grief. I feel like a fool wandering around dazed. I've read some wonderful entries and added them to my "Weekly Entry Picks" but haven't really commented too much, nor have I been able to gather my thoughts enough to put words to the emotions that I feel. However, I wanted to give special attention to Lisa's Entry about the latest stench coming from the administration regarding their "Mandate."

Just went to visit and appreciated you sending me back to her wonderful journal. She is an insightful lady. I think we are all feeling a bit lost. While some Republicans are writhing in foaming-mouthed fits of joyous celebration, I am very worried about the course our country is set on. judi

I think we all need to take a little time to grieve and center ourselves.  I personally plan to immerse myself in plans for the holidays to make myself feel better.  But we also need to start planning what we are going to DO about this.  Our voices were not loud enough in this election.  We need to figure out how to get our message across and be a force for change.  Let's not allow this set-back to become a defeat.  Lisa  :-]

Robbie,
I'm sick about this too.  I've been so
depressed since Tuesday, as so many
of us have been.  Thanks for providing
the link to Lisa's journal.  I loved her
entry!

and what neither you or Lisa realize in your "mandate" quotes is that there are simply MORE Americans today, hence the larger numbers in the vote tally.

Remember, there are lies, damned lies and then there are statistics.  You can make a number say anything you want.

Instead or mourning the "loss," why not pray for the guidance the current administration needs to straighten up and fly right?  There's always hope, right?

I think the attitude in the US that once you've won it's unpatriotic or something to disagree with the government. The idea of a loyal opposition seems to be unknown.

Half the country voting against him isn't exactly a mandate.

I'm with ya, hon.  It's hard to let go when you know how much is at stake.  :(

Ain't it a bitch?  I'm definitely in avoidance mode myself; avoiding the papers, avoiding TV news, avoiding, beyond all else, that gloating, smug, smirkiness himself...

Its a sad thing...All the Democrat-J-landers are being attacked by the Republicans because we won't play follow the leader with their President.

Excuse me....When was politics only for the 2 months before an election?

To paraphrase Bruce Springsteen (on his live album):  "Blind faith in your leaders or anyone will get you killed!"  Appropriately he said this during Daddy's reign...and it was followed by a brilliant version of "War"

Lisa said it all....and perfectly.  Mandate my ass!
