Robbie's Ramblings

I usually try to have a theme to my entry, a purpose.  I haven't done one of my "Robbie's Ramblings" entries in a while.  I do these when I have a bunch of little snippets that don't really amount to much at all. I guess they could be journal entries in their own right but they got lost along the way.  So, I try to gather all the pieces of my life and fit them neatly in one entry, one long entry. Sorry.

I've been meaning to post a pic of my new bed for a while now.  I think that I've been too enamored with it to share.  It's kind of like when you find a great restaurant and you don't want to tell anyone for fear it will ruin the special feeling that it gives you.  I love my bed.  This is the first brand new, out of the plastic wrap, bed that I have purchased.  The one I had before this was a sagging single bed that was given to me when I moved to California.  Prior to that, I had a king size bed that was a hand-me-down from my mom. I don't know what makes this bed feel so good, it may be the pillowtop mattress or the bedding itself. I bought all new stuff for it, even pillows. The white and blue print items are actually from my old bed. I like the pattern and I am having trouble departing with it so I thought it would make a nice accent for the sea of blue. The new comforter is a chambray so it is ultra soft and the sheets are absolute heaven. I never understood the whole thread-count schpeel. Now, I understand. These are three or four hundred count and they are the most luxurious I have felt caress my skin. I think the thrill of comfort is even more intense because I bought the mattress pad, sheet set, four pillows, pillow shams, bedskirt and comforter for under two hundred dollars. Bargain shopping at its finest! And, oh it feels so, so good.

The bed pic looks pretty bland but that's because my apartment is a work in progress. I still need to buy a headboard thingy for my bed. I call it a thingy because if I called it a frame, it doesn't sound quite right. It's on a frame. But, I want to get a headboard/footboard thingy to go along with it. All this "technical talk," you couldn't tell I actually work in the interior design industry. But then again, I still call a sofa a couch and get corrected on that one all the time. I'm still working on my desk so as you can see in the picture my computer set up is on a decorative barrel that I have and my printer sits on the floor.  Since I have no real furniture in my livingroom yet, I have my television in my bedroom on a metal outdoor table.  I have pictures galore that would make the place look much better.  But, until I buy the main furniture pieces, I don't want to hang anything because I don't want to have to move it if I place it wrong for the pieces that I will buy.  So, they are all piled against a wall in my livingroom waiting for a home.

I'm sure that this is getting old for all of you.  I actually thought about not posting this part but my journal is partially a record of my memories and also a way of letting people, like my brother, know what is going on.  So, you'll have to bear with me one more time while I mention that I am being highlighted - again. This time it's on the MusicTalk page for my entry called "Music, Marriage, and Mommies."  But, I like these kinds of highlights because they aren't all about me. If you look just below my pic, there is my dear journaling bud, Babyshark.

Now, excuse me while I go eat my hair.  Woops, I mean wash it.  I put a deep conditioner by Burt's Bees on it and it smells so fricken good.  Good enough to eat.  It's killing me since I haven't had breakfast yet.

What??? No picture of you layed out in a sexy nighty on the new bed? Now that's disappointing.  hehehe Of course, who'd be looking at the bed right? hahaha Hugs Lanny

Well, you're more of a grown-up than I am! We're still sleeping on a hand-me-down mattress & box spring, sitting directly on the floor. The kitten is shredding my Martha Stewart Bed-in-a-Bag, and Maggie still pees from time to time, so I don't see a new bed in my future any time soon :) Believe it or not, this is an improvement though...when we first moved in together, we had my hand-me-down twin and his childhood twin pushed together to create a large bed of sorts. It got a little tiresome worrying about if the baby or one of the dogs might get swallowed up in the crack :)
Congrats on your feature! And thank your mom for getting me in the Movie Talk page ;)

Congratulations on being highlighted. Your bed does look very inviting. I still call a sofa a couch and I still say washing my hair instead of shampooing. I know better but it feels so comfortable. Paula

The bed looks great Robbie!  Nothing like a new
bed to pick up one's spirits.  We got a new one
last year, and it's great!
How cool is that!!  You and Sharky both featured
at the same time!  Too cool!
Lovish!

Congrats on the new bed and the thread count epiphany.  Thread, it most definitely counts. ;)

And don't let those fancy designers tell you all couches are sofas. There's a ever-so-slight distinction between the two.  I have a schlepy couch, my grandmother has a nice sofa. =D

I so understand the bed thing. Three years ago, I purchased one just for me. I wanted a posteurpedic and I finally got one. It was the best investment I ever made. There's nothing like a great bed. I wish I could have a down bed cover but unfortunately, I get allergies to everything. My next purchase will be one of those mock featherbeds that are for us allergy sufferers. I want to be cuddled up like I'm sleeping inside a pillow. LOL!
Congrats on being featured again. You are a STAR!

Seeing how you got AOL's full attention these days, how about gettin' 'em to lower our monthly rate??  Kristi

What a very "comfy umfy" bed you have!!!  In this house beds are a major thing!  I have an obsession with the sheets, blankets, comforters AND pillows being neat and perfect before I even get into the bed, so I totally understood what you were talking about in this entry!  One day when you get the headboard and footboard thingy, it will look even better!!!
Hugs and love, Lisa

Ooooh, your bed looks divine.  Love the blue theme [of course].  My favorite accent-piece is the doggie.  Cuuuuuute.  Is there a reason you haven't filled your apartment with furniture yet?  Is it time?  finances?  undecided on style?  We should go garage saling sometime.  Most of what I own is a hand-me-down of some sort.  But you can probably tell huh?

Burt's Bees - Love that stuff.  What did you use?  I'm not familiar with the hair products.  Let's see a pic of that deep-conditioned hair.

Congrats on the feature - again.  You AOL-J Star!! :)

Your bed looks wonderfully comfy...We need a new bed so desperately, but we never agree on anything...I like you pointing out the highlights too.  I would totally miss them if they weren't pointed out to me.  You are quite the AOL celeb....

You are just SUCH the J-land celebrity...LOL!  The bed looks great.  But I gotta say, I got some high thread count sheets, and I HATE them.  They have shrunken majorly in the wash, and they wrinkle beyond recognition when I put them in the dryer.  And one thing I am NOT going to do is iron my sheets!  Lisa  :-]

Robbie, You have gave me a renewed feeling.  And I LOVE it!!!!  You're such a inspiration!!  Thank you so much!!  Oh, and Martha has her own bedding.  The sheets are some of the best I've ever slept on.

Aw your beddy looks so cute. :-) And rock on for being featured again! That's bitchin! :-) You know there's this new diet out where you can actually eat all the furniture you want and STILL shed pounds! So have at it I say! :-)

Gregg

P.S. LOVE Hoobastank (few entries back)

Could they possibly feature you anywhere else???? LOL  Congrats, darlin'.  Well-deserved, as you have one of the absolute best journals in AoL-J.  No doubt. And I love the bed!  Even if it is... errr... blue.  LOL  :P

Believe it or not, I've become really attached the blue nautical-inspired bedding at Ikea.  It's gorgeous and fluffy and reasonably priced - looks great with the white furniture, fresh and clean.  Surprisingly feminine.  You should check into it.  ;)

The bed is pretty much how I pictured it. But there's fewer appliances than I would have expected.

You know, your bed looks like the way mine use to be.......BEFORE KIDS!!!! hehehehe, I remember when I use to make my bed like this.. now we just pull up the sheets...heck I don't even have the pillows with the shams anymore... waaaaaa.. Oh well, one day again, I'll be able to have things nice again...when I'm not so busy!!!!  take care...
