Life Update

Thank you everyone for your kind words, emails, and support. After many tests and a CAT scan yesterday, the doctors discovered my mom had an 80% blockage in one of her arteries. It seems that they caught it in the nick of time. They did what sounds like an Angioplasty yesterday and today she is recuperating. She sounds a bit groggy but claims that it is due to the lack of sleep last night because they were checking on her so much. She's already talking about getting out of there so she can get back to work. I suggested she take some time off to relax and refresh. The idea excited her not for the rest it would afford her but because she could get some work done without being interrupted.

So, I'd say life is almost back to business as usual for her, and me. I'll return later today or tomorrow to write an anniversary entry. I am amazed by all that Vivian and everyone else has done to celebrate this milestone in our journaling lives. It's a wonderful testament to the community created by everyone here in J-Land. Today's entry which is a poem by Vince beautifully describes my experience here in J-Land. Great job Vince!

Robbie ~  I was sorry to read about your mother but am so glad it looks like she's going to be alright!  I know how distressing it is to deal with a parent's medical emergency, especially when you're so far away and can only wait by the phone.  It sounds like she'll bounce back in no time...

I am so glad your mom is better.  Angioplasty recovery is pretty easy from what I've been told, and if she's dying to get some uninterrupted work time, she's on her way.

Thanks for letting us know how your Mom is doing!  YIKES on the 80% blockage!  I am happy she had the surgery to prevent anything worse happening to her.  And, gee, who does your Momma sound like when she can't wait to get back to work?!  Could it be you?!  LOL!
Hugs and love, Lisa

I'm so glad that your mom is doing better, continued prayers. It's scary when someone you love, especially one of your parents, goes through something like this. I'm glad she will make a good recovery :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother's health problems.  Thank goodness they caught it in time for that angioplasty.  I hope you're going to be the angel on her shoulder from this point on, reminding her about dietary changes, exercise habits, reducing stress, etc.  ¤Holly

Good news! We like to believe our parents will always be there, until something like this happens to remind us of their mortality. I'm glad she's doing better.

Robbie-I am so glad to hear that all is okay with your mom. My daddy went through a scare like this several years ago. He couldn't wait to get back to work either. I've been so out of the loop these days, I didn't even know until now. If I had known, I would have said prayers for her, and you. I'll do so, now that I know.

I'm glad to hear your mom.  I hope you can convince her to take it easy, the work will still be there waiting.  What's important is her wellbeing, first and foremost!

Viv sure has done an amazing job.  I don't know where she finds the time, but like a good mother hen she herds us all and gets us working to make the anniversary celebrations a success!
