Road Trip Day 1

The long awaited road trip to Texas has finally begun. I'm so glad that I didn't get all regimental and try to plan it down to the last detail because nothing has gone according to my loosely planned idea that I held in my head and in Yahoo Trip Planner. There will be no links. The hotel wireless connection is weak and unstable. I even started looking for flights so I could back out of the drive. I thought I would never get out of town.

I originally planned on leaving Saturday but the trip to Boston was last weekend. Speaking of which, I've been trying to get my pictures posted to Flickr. I still have more to come but if you want to check them out click on the link in my sidebar. I didn't realize that I didn't have a weekend in between trips. I returned from Boston to a soggy mess at work on Monday morning. Apparently it rained over the weekend and a pipe broke. I handle the insurance claims for the company besides my day-to-day accounting responsibilities. Needless to say, the week was a whirlwind. Heck the past month has been a whirlwind.

Anyhow, I finally made it on the road today and breathed a sigh of relief that I didn't opt to fly. I forgot how beautiful the drive is to Arizona. I am bunkered down for the night on the outskirts of Tucson. The picture above is the desert on the way to the border of California and Arizona. I laughed as I began to post it because I think I have almost the exact same picture from my trip with Trish several years ago.

Bon Voyage(!) and watch out for marauding jackelopes. The last time I drove through Arizona I got sunburned through the windshield.

I like your new boat, btw. Why does your avatar always seem to be having more fun than mine?

Happy Motoring!

Great to have you back blogging, Robbie...I thought you'd gotten lost on your road-trip! ;)

Pass my a cold drink, would you please...I'm sitting in the back seat of your car, enjoying the scenery with you! :) I hope you have a very Merry Christmas. :)

Drive on, girl! I love the drive across Arizona & NM. Not as wild about the part from El Paso to San Antonio. Zzzzzz. No Doze might help. Wave at the cool windmills generating power on the mesas..... not much else to do out there.
