My Ten Favorite Works of Art

Art comes in many forms, so I'll limit this to the visual arts. Even still, it was tough to pick only ten and I can still think of many more:

1. Anything by Edgar Degas. I love the way he captures the female form and movement. It has an ethereal reverence about it.

2. Starry Night by Vincent VanGogh. I love the texture and color of the painting. And, the dreamy nature suggested by the sky - like magic is happening outside while we are snug in our beds.

3. My Gigi original hanging in my apartment. I love her use of color.

4. A charcoal of my grandmother and grandfather. I think it was done by my grandmother but I'm not sure.

5. A portrait of my brother Chris as a child done by my grandmother.

6. Anything by Norman Rockwell. He captures nostalgia like no one else.

7. Many - many of Judith Heartsong's. It's hard to choose just one. Her women have a mystical quality. Some of her flora and animals have a bit of whimsy and then there's the brooding of some of her random other pieces. Emotion definitely shines through her paintings. Here are two that I particularly like. I think the close-ups express a certain sense of vulnerability.

8. A recent find, Trevor Romain. A talented children's author and artist. He recently used a technique of combining his photos with watercolors. The results are amazing and inspiring.

9. A mask that a friend created for me years ago.

10. Last, but certainly not least since I bumped so many just to keep this list down to ten, is my cousin Mallette. She has wonderful talent and I think she's the only one in the family who has dared to pursue it as a career.

The idea for this entry was brought to me by The Imagination Prompt Generator.

Ohhhh....I'm number 3! On the same list as Degas, VanGogh and Judith Heartsong! I know you're just being kind, but thank you anyway. :)!

Now when do I get one of yours to hang on my walls?

I love what you did with the photo of the mask, and that painting of your brother is so sweet! Maybe that's another aspect of why we create ~ in addition to meditation and exploration, as a purely personal expression of love. How lovely.
