The Clown

I'm here. I'm alive. I'm doing well. Last week was an intensely stressful week at work. Since I choose not to discuss work on here any more, I needed some means of expressing myself, thus the entry below. Tuesday was the worst day out of them all. It seemed like I was handling things well throughout the day but when the day was over something just came crashing in on me and I had to get it out so I would have the energy and strength to face the next day.

A few people expressed interest in the photo of the clown. So, I thought I'd explain it. That clown is attached to a building in Santa Monica. It's one of the few photos that I took during the Yak Yak Sisterhood weekend that came out half way decent. The more I look at the picture, the creepier it seems to me, so I thought I'd do some photo manipulation of it to show just how creepy that clown could be. I would hate to live near it and have to see it out my window at night, thus today's montage.

In the build up to the weekend, we planned on showing the goils the typical Hollywood scenery that everyone who first comes out here wants to see - the Hollywood Sign, Mann's Chinese Theater, Venice Beach, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Except for Venice, Trish wasn't too thrilled about it but she's been tainted by living out here so long. I can't say that I blame her because once you see these things, you realize they are just tourist traps and quite uneventful. However, in our discussions it was revealed that Andi has a thing for Keanu Reeves. She wanteda picture of his star on the Walk.

There's a quote that says "the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray." Ours were no different. We managed to do none of the touristy things that we had discussed. However, on one of our escapades to get something to eat, we were in Santa Monica in front of this clown. I think we may have even went there intentionally so Andi could see it because apparently that clown appears in the movie Speed. If you click on the movie link, it will take you to a still of the part of the movie where the bus blows up. That is just up the street from where that clown is located. Andi had her picture taken with the clown in the background. I hope one of the Yaks got it. I took Andi's pic there but neglected to include the clown. D'uh.

Hey Girl - great Clown play.  I love what you've done with it...made a freaky image look really cool.

Thinking about the visit, I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to go to Hollywood for Andi.  I didn't actually know that's why she wanted to go till later.  But, this trip to the clown was intentional.

P.S.  The Clown is in Venice.  A block and a half from the boardwalk.  It was just windy and cold and getting dark.  Not great boardwalking conditions. ;)

Sorry about the stressful week at work.

Maybe write a private journal about work? Just don't write it about work. Note: where I work, folks have now been fired for blogging while on work hours. Anal retentive bastards.

You know as I kid I never trusted clowns. That make up gave me the willies. And your clown photo is cool in that it is one bizarro clown. And you know once I read/saw Stephen King's IT that was all I ever needed to not like clowns permanently.

And I love the Jersey (or Joisey?) slang like "goils". Sorta like "youse guys". Ack, too many gangster movies in my background.

GREAT SONG! I love Marvin. This clown intrigues me. Someone had a great imagination who created him. I have a wooden jester which is actually a CD cabinet that reminds me of him. I love to have unique things. Thanks for that entry. Nelle

I hope things get better. The law of averages is just about ready to change things. I hope. Thanks for sharing the pic and the music!

Robbie, you're scaring the crap outta me with that clown.  I can't seem to escape the clown.  There's proof that I adore you Yak Yaks--I keep frequenting your journals regardless of the clown.  :D

I've been trying to get back to this entry here and there throughout the day! Every time I would click on your Journal, I'd get an IE error report and my net connection would close. Veddy frustrating. But I got s-m-a-r-t finally and came in through the link entry. (I'm not sure why this was happening. Was it happening to anyone else? It might just be my computer.)

I watched the movie SPEED last weekend and cackled like a fool when I saw The Clown and The Firehouse restaurant where we ate. Yep, yep, I love my Keanu and the fact that my feet (feet! hah!) stood on the very spot where his might have.

Thanks for this entry, Robbie Girl. Did you have weird dreams about The Clown? And do you think it would be better to dream about that Clown instead of work?

xo!

Yeah, the clown is scary.  But wanna know what is even more scary?  The fact that I know that "Coulrophobia" means "an abnormal and intense fear of clowns."  I mean, how strange do you have to be to know the clinical term for fear of clowns?

Hey, I love that bit of creative photo editing you did....very cool. :D

I have been to all those tourist traps you mentioned, when IRUN and I first moved there in '89, we did those typical things.  It was fun. :)   We had to have lived on the worst street in Anaheim though. :p  We had cops walking our little dead end street with German Shephards, we found out that we lived next to one of the biggest drug ring apartments around.  I can remember when they raided it.  scary. So, hey....watch out for Euclid St.  lol.

So glad you guys had a great time :)

If there were an apartment for rent with a view of THE CLOWN outside a window, I'd rent it in an L.A. minute.  I think this clown is my destiny!  --Albert
