There are three kinds of dates.
1. I am immediately attracted to a guy. These are few and far between and purely a physical attraction. Definite HO potential with these though. As such, it's probably for the best that they are very few and very far between. ;-)
2. I am immediately not attracted to a guy. It may be physically but more often than not it's something more ellusive, maybe mannerisms or personality that kills the deal. These are more of a ho ho ho potential, as in laugh it off and try your best to have a good time.
3. Then there's the guy where it's a wait and see. There's not an instant attraction but the personality has the potential to override the lack of aesthetics to make him attractive. A good portion of guys fall into this category. However, sometimes they never get past the wait and see stage. These are HOpefuls.
Darren is a number three. He's nice, not bad looking, physically fit, successful, and super intelligent. Super intelligent is new for me. I usually gravitate toward the dumb jock kind of guy. ;-) But, there's just something that's not there. So, we'll wait and see.
Thanks for all your advice and well wishes. You guys make me feel so supported. It's a great feeling and I hope that I am, or can, or will reciprocate.

I think #3 is always your best bet. It's the guys you think will only work as "friends" who, over time, start to look like "rawrrrr" material... those are the best. :)
Good luck with Darren. And GREAT about me pic! So nice to see you finally. :)
Wooohh! Hold on a sec! Who the hell is this Darren character?!?! I guess he's taking you to prom now huh?? Well you can have him! And to think, I was going to let your upsize your fries at Wendys!
:)

You are very loved & very supportive yourself dear Robbie! All guys have their problems, but if this one didn't send you into "flight or fight" mode then that's a very good thing. I gravitate towards dumb jocks too, cuz let's face it: I've got more than enough personality & intelligence for 2 people! LOL! I agree with SloMo on #3 being the best type of candidate for a serious LTR if you're looking for more than a little "excercise." :-) [cont'd]
AND I would also add that alot of times people forget that a relationship is mostly about how the other person feels when they're around you & vice-versa. This is something that changes & grows with time, but something worth remembering.
Finally, you have a great knack for putting together entries in a concise & meaningful way, I don't think I've told you that before. :-)

#3's are the best kind. Start out as mutual friends....and work your way up. LOL Glad you survived your blind date. =)

I love Gregg, he gives the best advice, LOL!
Glad the date went well, and has some HOtential.
Hehehee. I'm so silly.
You can always count on me for support or advice,
and you have been there for me and then some.
Love you, Penny
Glad that you went, it is great to be open....but can't make something be there that isn't.....
Wait and see....... I like that.
Have a Good Day!!!!
Kate
Sounds like Potential!!!!!!!!!!
Vince
He sounds pretty good so far! The wait and see type is good bc at least you have the potential to have fun while you, well, wait and see...and I dont mean that in the HO way...entirely..lol ;)
Glad you survived, hope you had fun!

It's hard to know on just one date how this guy is going to be. I hope you guys get together again and spend the day doing something fun and see how it goes.
wooohooo No ho! =) Glad you had fun! Can't wait to hear more about this one!
Give it time- he was probably as nervous, second date (?) will probably be more relaxed and you will have a better handle on things. Good Luck! Kristi
You left out another type of date. The one where Gregg dresses you up as a cop and ask you to search him for drugs. DONT do this type of date. That damn Gregg hid those drugs in a very dark place.
:)

#3 isn't so bad. Most of my dates fall in that category, I rarely fall head over heels at first sigh--no matter how gorgeous the guy--I'm such a slowpoke, lol. Since he's super intelligent, then you know at least there won't be a boring mindless moment with this guy. You going out again, huh huh? Mara <---nosy, lol.
Well at least it went well and you didnt hold us in suspense. john
Ho, ho, ho! I love how you explained the three types of HO dates. And ... I think most meaningful relationships start by falling into the #3 category. A blind date is a terrible thing (ho, ho) for people to go through. Nerves and stuff. So I'd bet that a blind first date is pretty danged far off the mark in a true character representation.
God. I sound like a boring Dr. Ruth.
Robbie, I love the bio pic! You are gorgeous! Looking back, I wish I spent more time with the ho than the ho-hum. Ho, ho, ho is always good too. I love someone who laughs at my jokes. The only advice I have for you is listen to your inner ho. She is always right.
17 is a lot of comments!
I married a number 3. He isn't super intelligent in book smarts, but very street smart while I am book smart. He isn't what I used to date, tall, gorgeous, jock type men. But, you know what, he is my best friend, and in the end, isn't that what matters? That they are your friend before anything else, physically, chemistry wise, etc. So, take it slow with Darren and see what happens. You may be pleasantly surprised!!
Hugs and love, Lisa
HOpefuls - ROFL! Stay honest with yourself. It's great to have a journal to reflect :)
Just for you, Robbie.. A special entry related to yours about how we choose the men we like. Hope you enjoy it! ¤ Holly
